Teacher Contract Negotiations Continue

My union has been in negotiations with the School Committee since March to work on a new contract. We are currently working without a contract.

Tonight, the NTA (Newburyport Teachers Association) had a rally to support the negotiating team. We met at the Elks Lodge for a meeting and buffet. At 5:30, we all drove over to the Middle School (which is where the School Committee has their meetings) and rallied our support for the contract negotiations. We had over half of the entire teacher population of the City of Newburyport show up for the rally - it was so cool!

We are trying to show the School Committee that there are human faces to this contract. The negotiating team has done an amazing job and has worked so hard to get this far for us. Two major issues of the contract: increase in salary and health care.
