St. Mere Eglise, France - July 2005
This photo was taken at the Paratroopers Museum in St. Mere Eglise, France.
On D-Day, the paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions were dropped into the St. Mere Eglise area. St. Mere Eglise was the first French town to be liberated by the Americans.
As you can see, it was an absolutely gorgeous day! On this same day we saw the American cemetery, Utah and Omaha Beaches, and a German cemetery.
While touring the beaches, one can't help but think about the thousands of men that were killed or wounded that day for our freedom. A few members of my tour group had loved ones that were present at D-Day so I'm sure it rather emotional for them.
