It's true, Lori! So dang true! I see it in Corey. I ripped into him the other day when he brought home his grades from a biography book report. It required him to read the book, answer some questions on 1 side of a paper from the teacher, create a timeline including a picture of the person and be able to answer questions from the teacher in a mock interview format. Corey chose the Wright brothers and I hounded him the entire month he had to do the project. The final weekend to work on it came and all he had to do was find a picture for his timeline. He breezed through the mock interview with me and I was sure he would get an A+ because he was solid and because he actually knew all the facts of 2 people VS the required 1. The the grade came back and he recieved a B. I usually don't reprimand a B but when I saw the reason, I was HOT! He received zero points on the timeline because he was too dang lazy to cut out and glue a picture on it. I could not believe that he would allow his grade to slip because of being too lazy to do something that would've taken only a minute. How do you force the student to care? I really do know your frustrations...I live them everyday at home. What kills me is that he is so smart... I just can't let him throw it all away!

This article is so true! so many teachers get a bad rap because of this. I was one of those kids too when I was in High School, I didn't pay attention, nor did I want to do the work and I blamed the teachers, when it was me just being lazy and didn't care. I look back on this now and think what a dope I am!
